Growing Up is Hard on Mom

If you read this blog with any regularity you have probably noticed a couple of things. First, my post have become more and more erratic. Second, my children are growing up way to fast. Ironically, the second has more to do with the first than you would realize. From the time my children were little I was told that raising children would change from being physically demanding to mentally demanding. Of course like all young mothers you think those older than you know nothing. In your young mother head you can not imagine a different life then the one you are currently living. The days are long as you meet every single physical and mental need of your little ones. Your a mother, and you love the days of caring for, and taking care of your little ones. You love the hugs, and the little fingers that grab your hand. You love the art projects, first times, little shoes, and most of all you adore your little ones. The process of children growing up is inevitable. Those little fingers ...

Wear Sunscreen

One of my all time favorite quotes comes from a commencement talk/song, Free to Wear Sunscreen. "Don't worry about the future; or worry, but know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubblegum. The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that never crossed your worried mind. The kind that blindside you at 4pm on some idle Tuesday." I am sure that I am not the only person on this planet that can be classified as a worrier. I like to think I am a champion worrier. However, the older I have gotten I have discovered that the things I worry about never happen and the things I never worry about do. Which means that there is absolutely no point in worrying. No matter how good at it I am. Life is going to throw you challenges. When challenges happen you have a couple of choices, the first is to embrace the challenge, and find the blessing in the challenge. The second choice is to give up. Giving up is actually the hardest of ...

Summer Purge

Today marked the first day of our first annual summer purge. Pretty much everyday this month, give or take a birthday, holiday, and Sunday day, I'm going to purge an area of my home. Why? Well you may have heard me mention a time or two or a million that my kids are getting big. Big enough that I have a playroom full of toys, a garage full of bikes, and drawers full of clothes with zero purpose. Other than to take up needed space. Today we attacked the bookcase. I say start where it hurts than the rest will be easy. I hope. So with the my mind set to cut back, I dusted, moved, and purged books. All in all I think I purged about 50 books. I thought it would be hard but I soon realized that many of the reference books we have are no longer needed. Between Youtube, Google, SweetSearch4me, Online Data bases, and Online Libraries reference books are eating up valuable space. As I was tossing reference books, into the GoodWill pile, I was stunned that I was turning away fro...

Day Camp

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to attend day camp with all the cubs. They are such an adorable group of boys. The day was full of activities and RAIN. By the time we left camp we were soaked and tired. A few of the boys even fell asleep on the way home. My favorite part of the day was a rope bridge the boys had to cross. The leader in charge of the activity was awesome, and kept all the boys cheering for each other. It was obvious that some of the boys were scared to death, and that crossing the bridge was a major accomplishment. I was thankful to be there and see how valuable these activities are for boys. They grow so much in the moments where they climb past their fear and do something new and hard. I was so proud of all them. I just love the smug little grin of accomplishment on his face. Such a guy thing. I would post all of their pictures but I don't have permission. Just imagine the look of accomplishment on their faces as they each completed the activi...

Softball and Machine Pitch

The softball/machine pitch season is coming to an end. The season started out with rain, rain, and more rain. The result has been a longer season than normal. Really that has been ok as Al. and H. have kept somewhat active through June. I should say Al has remained active because H. is never not active. That boys wears me out. Due to the rain and a baseball schedule that conflicted with school I feel I am seriously lacking in the picture department this season. Although, I did catch one of H. and my favorite of his many sport faces. Yup, this is the face. It makes me laugh every time and lets you know just how into the game the boy can get. Funny thing is this picture was taken just a moment before. That is the thing with baseball wait for it.... wait for it... wait for it.... GO!!! This is not my favorite picture of Al but when I attempted to get closer I was rewarded with a hard ball to the leg. Apparently, these girls have learned to hit and you have to watch ...
