Speaking My Language

A few months ago I had the opportunity to attend a job hunting seminar. The women conducting the class was this tiny, little, spit fire, corporate, head hunter. She was kind of awesome and by the end of the class I was actually looking forward to job hunting. Crazy, right? One of the things that she shared with the group is that each morning she listens to music that lifts her up, gives her energy, and makes her ready to take on the day. She didn't share the songs she listens to because she wanted us to find on our own songs, or method of infusing our day with positive energy. However, she did mention that she could do a mean Tina Turner impersonation. Given a choice, music is going to be the method I turn to for a burst of happy energy. This morning, before leaving to  meet with my soon to be students, I was listening to my favorite Pandora station and the below song came on. It was a perfect song for the day. I wake up in the morning and it's 6 a clock. They ...

Summer Song Contestant #2

Today Al. officially entered the following song for, "Our Summer Song," contest. I went on Youtube and checked out the video... read through the lyrics.... and read about the artist.... You know what sometimes you just have to be proud of your kids. Wonder how in the world did I get this lucky. Take a listen and tell me what you think. I'm thinking that this is probably the winner. Headphones lyrics She gave it her best She tried to fit in She tried to be cool But she never could win Her mom says she's great The kids think she's weird Honestly she wish she could disappear Why you try, try to be like the rest of them When you know there's so much more within There's only one you Here's what ya' gotta do Whoa, whoa... Anytime you feel alone, put on your headphones Love, love's coming through your headphones Anytime you feel alone, put on your headphones Love, love's coming through your headphones L-o-o-ove is...

Finding the Perfect Summer Song...

Every summer needs the perfect song... That song that says, "It is summer have fun!" That song that says, "Let's enjoy TODAY!" Not sure if I have found the perfect song yet, but so far this song is in the running. "Tonight Tonight," Hot Chelle Rae My favorite part of the song is the chorus.. "La la la, whatever, la la la, it doesn't matter, la la la, oh well, la la la" So what is your perfect summer song?

Unwritten

Two posts in one day. It may be a first. It's not. Once upon a time I was constantly posting. Sometimes two or three times a day. When did I have that kind of time? Where did that time go? Okay, so lately the song below has been on a loop in my head. For some reason it is resonating with me right now. Possibly because my life is going through a transition. Not just my life but Me. I can actually feel all these changes taking place. Such a difficult thing, feeling, emotion to explain. Whatever it is I love this song. I think because it is about taking on life without inhibitions. I need less inhibitions! I also need to KNOW that it is okay that I don't have all the answers. That I can have parts of my story that are unwritten. Maybe I just need to enjoy writing the story a little bit more and worry less about how it is going to end. Whatever my reasons I love this song right now. So turn up the volume, throw up your arms, and sing with me people. I am unwritt...

Beautiful Tree

I have a confession. . . I love the CW. . . 90210, Vampire Diaries, SuperNatural, One Tree Hill I'm an addict from the days that Joey climbed through Dawson's window and Felicity cut off all her curly locks. But here is the thing, the shows, well I can take em or leave em. What I'm truly addicted to is the soundtracks. I watch the shows and then track down the songs. I can't tell you how many of my favorite songs have been featured on a CW shows. It is sad really, other people they go to concerts, they listen to the radio, they hunt the Internet. Me...I watch shows on CW. Please don't judge me. Tonight I was watching the CW's latest show, "Life Unexpected," and the opening song came on and I was off on a hunt. It is a great song. Okay, I know I have said this before and I know I will probably say this again, but truly it is an awesome song and the artist of the song is so ummm. . . well excuse the pun but she is unexpected. Anyway I'm linking the Y...

Shambala

With today being my Friday and the last day of a session and next week being spring break I'm in a good mood.  I know shocking!  One of my favorite good mood songs. Wash away my troubles, wash away my pain With the rain in Shambala Wash away my sorrow, wash away my shame With the rain in Shambala [Chorus:] Ah, ooh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah Everyone is helpful, everyone is kind On the road to Shambala Everyone is lucky, everyone is so kind On the road to Shambala [Chorus] How does your light shine, in the halls of Shambala I can tell my sister by the flowers in her eyes On the road to Shambala I can tell my brother by the flowers in her eyes On the road to Shambala [Chorus] How does your light shine, in the halls of Shambala

Mercy!

Today's song of the day is "Mercy" performed by Duffy. First, because you just have to love that Duffy is not your typical pop gal. She's got curves and bumps just like a real women. Second, you have to love her voice! Maybe that should have been first. Third, while enduring a tortuous spin class that death was surely close by. I had the overwhelming desire to quit! Just stop! Throw in the towel, throw the tension off and kick back. However, right as my hand reached for the tension this song came on. It had so much spunk that I threw the last of what I had into it. Go ahead listen to it, I dare you not to dance. Can't do it can you? It was an awesome class! Average Heart Rate 165! Woo Hoo.... “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.” Dr. Seuss
