SUPER "cold" SOCCER SATURDAY

As I warned you last night today was cold and wet. Nevertheless, with only two more weeks left in the soccer season both of the boys coaches were reluctant to cancel their games.  So today Hubby and I headed off in opposite directions to watch the boys play ball. I'm not going to lie and say it was pleasant, the rain came down hard, and the temperature lingered in the high 30's.  It was crazy weather. Even so, this week armed with an umbrella and my smaller camera I braved the elements to bring you these wet soccer pics. I wont tell you what the coaches butt looked like when he stood up, because of course I didn't look, but I am sure you can imagine. Do these boys look like they are dressed for soccer?  I think they are more ready to go skiing. Although they do look like they are enjoying themselves. Our little man had an impressive game scoring 6 goals.  Of course I think this had a lot to do with the fact that all of the boys were having a hard time staying on their feet....

Snow is Coming

It is suppose to snow tomorrow.  That is the bad news.  Summer has come and gone with astonishing speed.  I want to pout and refuse to acknowledge that it is time for the weather to grow cold and wet.  However, no matter how much I pout Mother Nature just goes about doing her own thing. Dang her! Anybody know her address I would like to have a chat with her, in person?  Good news, snow this time of year doesn't generally last. In the next few weeks you will find me reporting every kind of weather from hot to cold, from windy to wet, to dry and freezing.  Utah falls and springs are always divine mysteries.  Good news, I'm sure my dear blog readers have had about enough of my garden stories.  So for the next few months you get a break. Hey keep the cheering down. Good news in lieu of garden pictures I will be sharing pictures of snow.:) Ummm...why don't I hear cheering? Hello....  Come on it is going to be so much fun, instead of pictures of flowers you are going to get to se...

How this was supposed to work!

Nov 13, 2008 Trying to keep a second blog just about the bike ride hasn't really worked out so well.  So I will be keeping all of the Bike information on this post.  You can check for updates to this post by clicking the LRRH 09 button at the top of the blog. I plan on posting some training information tomorrow.  But you have heard that from me before haven't you.:) I decided that if we are all really going to do this we should have a place to meet and a place where we can go to get information about training and the event. So far we have 8 people who have agreed to join us. Lets start at the beginning. First things first if you have agreed to participate you should send me a mug shot and a short bio. That way people will know who you are and where you are from. I will post mine in the next couple of days so you will have an example. Second this is a 104 mile loop ride. Meaning we end where we start. It is a woman only non-competitive bike ride. In fact they serve us lunch...

A Boy of Few Words

My youngest has always been a boy of few words.  When he was two years old our Doctor wanted us to visit a hearing and speech specialist because he felt that our little man wasn't saying enough words.  We declined feeling that it was more by choice then anything else that he was not talking.  I've always felt that this man in the making just really had no need for words. What he wants and what he thinks is usually fairly obvious.  For example: This look is the "Put the camera away, Mom!"  This is his, "I'm thinking, leave me alone" This is his, "Ok, I'm in a good mood go ahead and take my picture." This is his, "I got it" look This is my favorite look, his "I am having a blast" This is his, "You just insist on taking that camera everywhere don't you?" For those of you that know my husband you know that he is a quiet guy.  Which is one of the things that is great about having kids. Sometimes you get a little...

Who Do I Tattle To?

I have two weeks off of work.  Which is why I LOVE my job.  I work a month and I am rewarded with two weeks off.  It is an awesome deal.  Whenever I am off I run around getting things done that I don't have time to get done while I'm working, my killer 11 hour a week job.  With the holidays quickly approaching I decided to take the next couple of weeks and do my holiday scrub down.  Which is where I turn my house upside down and then put it back together again.  Hopefully getting rid of all the junk, out grown clothes, and general stuff that we don't need.  Additionally, cleaning under all the furniture and trying  to get rid of all the dog hair.  Whose idea was it again to have a 170lb indoor dog? Now, while I may not be religious about it I generally try to do this type of cleaning at least twice a year.  Yes, occasionally I only get it done once and ummm... maybe a time or two not at all. However, I generally give my kids warnings and they know when it is coming. That be...

Ask Swim Mom

This week on "Ask The SwimMom," we are going to discuss swim wear and swim gear.  Once you have joined the swim team or started a regular routine of swimming one of the first things you are going to have to do is invest in swim wear that is chlorine friendly. When I say chlorine friendly I mean able to with stand the material eating, goggle deteriorating, bacteria killing chemical added to all public pools to keep them safe.  While chlorine is our friend, in that it keeps us safe, keeping harmful bacterias from hurting us, it is not a friend to swim gear. I have personally seen a swim suit fall apart in less then a week of regular use in a public pool. Now is the time to resign yourself to the fact that the days of $12.99 suits are over.  Now is the time to resign yourself to the fact that in order to keep a suit you are going to have to hand over some cash.  I know it hurts believe me I resisted spending $65.00 on a swimsuit for my seven year old.  That year I probably bough...

SUPER SOCCER SATURDAY

Remember how I said that we had an unseasonably warm fall? Well, fall finally made an appearance today. We were hit with our first full day of rain. Which in the world of AYSO usually means no games. However, Sam is now playing in an competitive league so a full blown rain storm means nothing.  I take that back it means 85 minutes of soccer in the rain.  The game, putting the rain, wind, and cold to the side was a pretty fun game to watch.  I say watch because if I had to play I would have called uncle before the game even started, Sam is certainly made of sterner stuff than I.   I was amazed watching these girls run around the field.  I wish I could have brought my camera with me but the weather had me leaving it at home today.  That and the hopeful wish that we would get to the soccer field and they would call the game. Like I said I'm a wimp. I will just have to do my best to describe to you the game and some of the fun stuff that happened. This week our girls were in their blac...
