The Christmas Letter that Wasn't

If there has been one and only one holiday tradition that I have been able to pull off each year it has been our holiday letter.

As your cards far and wide have trickled in I have felt the increasing pressure to get the cards done. However, even with the increasing pressure I have yet to pull the cards out of the target bag, address them, stamp them, write the Christmas letter, and send them on the way.

Perhaps this year we just call the Christmas Card an Epic Fail (well maybe "epic" is a little overkill).

Although, I have vowed never to go completely virtual this year the ease, connivence, and the lack of time has forced our Christmas goings and comings to this poor neglected little blog.

Proof  that I bought them and that they are still in the bag.

On a side note:

Dear Santa,

Please send me more time.

Sorry, back on track...

This has been a pretty great year for our family. We have had lots of comings and goings. New experiences and fun times. Basically, we are living life and enjoying everyday as much as we can.

My little guy H is now in the 4th grade. In just a few short days he will be 10. All of my little ducks have left the single digits and are now double digits. H is all boy and loves being outside, playing with friends, and being on the go. It is hard to keep him down. His favorite activity is football and he loves working hard and playing hard.

Al is now 12 years old. At some point over this year she shed the last of her little girl and became a young lady. Her talent, sense of humor, and life perspective keep Brent and I on our toes. Our home has reminders in every room of her creations and talent.  It is one of our greatest frustrations and joys. The second month of Junior High she was chosen as the artist of the month. She is shy about her talent and keeps it hidden from most. Something tells me that wont always be the case.

A will be 14 tomorrow. He enjoys playing the double bass in the orchestra and Jazz band, classical music, the Beetles, and playing the piano. He served as the Deacon Quorum president for over year. However, he is not a big fan of scouting. He spent two weeks participating in scout camps this past summer. He has informed us, "That was quite enough camping for one person for a lifetime." When asked to speak about his experiences in church he was brutally honest. Leaving the congregation in tears of laughter.  When not playing or listening to music he is reading. His current passion includes Ayn Rand, and Charles Dickinson. Just incase you are wondering we too have wondered if there is a 60 year old man trapped in his body.

S is 16 today. Yes, as I type tears our rolling down my eyes. How in the world did my baby get to be 16? Brent and I are so blessed to have her in our life. She is an amazing teenager with amazing maturity. She loves the gospel and strives to live the principles of the gospel daily. She also loves school and expects a lot of herself. She started high school this year and it continues to be a struggle as she tries to live up to her own expectations. She is back in the pool swimming. She is doing really well and loves the time in the water. This morning she informed me, "I'm going to mutual tonight and I have a ride." Needles to say without skipping even a single day boys are now a part of our lives.

As for Brent and I we are not really sure if we are ready to handle a houseful of teenagers. We run, run, run and when we are done we run some more. I am now teaching full time. I love it and somehow I am surviving my first year. Lucky for me I have an amazing husband who supports me in all that I do. Our crazy lives are full of chaos, arguments, disagreements, and most of all love.

Everyday, I feel incredibly blessed to have the life I have. In light of the recent events I can only be thankful that my Heavenly Father has given me the opportunity to be part of this crazy life and be surrounded by those that I love.

I hope that this "letter," finds all of you enjoying the holiday season. Although, this letter can not be found in your mailbox know that we are thinking of you. Thank you for your friendship and love.

Merry Christmas,
Brent, Krissi and The Gang!

PS.. All of the beautiful pictures were taken by Melissa Sue Photography. I loved all of the pictures and her!!! So if you live in Utah check her out.

Our Christmas Letter

Each year I send out a Christmas letter and the one thing that frustrates me more then anything about the letter is that I can not include all the pictures I would like. That and Brent's rule that the letter has to fit on one side of one paper. I have gotten pretty clever with font size and margins to keep this rule. All you that have read this blog know that I am a sucker for pictures. So this year along with mailing out the letters I am going to post the letter with pictures. YAY ! So fun having your own blog to torture people anyway you want. Our Christmas cards were sent out on Monday so here in all it's digital glory is the letter again, this time with pictures. (Beginning of Letter) Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! We hope that this letter finds you happy, healthy and enjoying the holiday season. If you are like us, it has been a little bit of a difficult year dealing with increasing prices and a budget that isn't quite stretching to meet every thing you want it to...

A Walk Through Our Fall Garden

We have had an absolutely beautiful fall. The weather has actually stayed unseasonably warm. While we have been busy canning and harvesting we have taken very little time to enjoy the flowers that are also enjoying the fall season.  So a couple of days ago I grabbed my camera and enjoyed a scroll through my flowers.  I Love this picture I swear it makes me think I can actually smell the rose.  Sadly this is a no name rose. I think we should name it don't you?   These little guys are from a start my friend gave me.  In fact my flower beds are a bloom right now with plants from her garden. These little gals make me think of quiet summer days.  They also make me want to finish reading "Anne of Green Gables," again.  Don't you think that Anne would love these little ones.  She would probably call them "Queen's of Fall," or something else romantic and fancy. These are mums and you should see the plant it is huge.  Again a start from a friend.  I think it is...

Another Good Book

I have been on a streak lately. I have had suggested to me or have accidentally read so many good books.  I have a growing list of authors that I can't wait to read more of.  Last night a friend handed me a copy of, "The Hunger Games," by Suzanne Collins. I started reading it at 9:00 and kept saying, "One more chapter and I will go to bed. Okay, one more chapter and I will go to bed." I could not put the book down and honestly it was one of those books that had me by the first sentence.   At 11:30 and 150pages into the book I made myself go to bed.  Which didn't really work out to well because I just kept thinking about the book and what was going to happen next.  I'm not even entirely sure I saw my children this morning because I had my nose buried into the book. Then it ended with this sentence, "END OF BOOK ONE." Do you know what that means? That means there is a book two! Which I am not allowed to go and get until I get some chores done. ...
