Garden Update! All things Giant.

Today's blog is a story of a little seed.  While planting in the garden we noticed a tiny little plant was coming up.  We had not planted any seeds where the plant was coming up but we decided to let the plant go and see what it was.  We thought it might be zucchini because it was very close to where we had planted zucchini last year.  Well time passed and this plant is what started to grow and grow and grow and grow............... do you understand well keep scrolling .....

and grow and grow and grow...... Today this is our little seed.  It was a sunflower.  I had planted them in the garden last year and somehow this guy decided to come up all on his own this year.  Notice the first picture is of Andrew and the Sunflower late June.  This is the sunflower today.

Are you starting to realize how huge this thing is?

Brent says that currently it measures 13 feet. And it just keeps growing and growing well you get the picture.

This is the first of our giant pumpkins.  Which I really haven't given it any justice to its current size.  But trust me it is big and just like the sunflower getting a little out of control.

Notice the pumpkin vine making its way up the fence.  Already it has reached the other side and is sprouting a bloom that could turn into another pumpkin.  Which means I could have a 400lb pumpkin hanging on my fence.

And what exactly am I suppose to do with that?

Well at least the snapdragons are behaving and looking pretty.

Even if these guys are getting a little big at least they're cool to watch grow and move with the sun each day.

Meanwhile we are starting to enjoy visitors in our tiny garden, this little humming bird spent the morning checking us out, and spending time in a garden just a little out of control.

Your garden is beautiful! I love that it is gated off from the rest of the yard.

Our Christmas Letter

Each year I send out a Christmas letter and the one thing that frustrates me more then anything about the letter is that I can not include all the pictures I would like. That and Brent's rule that the letter has to fit on one side of one paper. I have gotten pretty clever with font size and margins to keep this rule. All you that have read this blog know that I am a sucker for pictures. So this year along with mailing out the letters I am going to post the letter with pictures. YAY ! So fun having your own blog to torture people anyway you want. Our Christmas cards were sent out on Monday so here in all it's digital glory is the letter again, this time with pictures. (Beginning of Letter) Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! We hope that this letter finds you happy, healthy and enjoying the holiday season. If you are like us, it has been a little bit of a difficult year dealing with increasing prices and a budget that isn't quite stretching to meet every thing you want it to...

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. It is always nice to take time out and spend time with family and enjoy each others company. I am looking forward more than I can say to our Thanksgiving break. I wrapped up my diversity class good, bad, or indifferent it is done. YAY! Reflections is all but done. This year we had 130 projects submitted three years ago when I started as the Reflection chick we had 9 projects submitted. It almost brought me to tears seeing all the kids projects and their creativity. So very awesome and soooo much work. The economy is looking a tiny bit better and it looks like we may get a little good news in the coming months. That will be a welcome break. All in all I have to say things are looking up. Which brings me to my thought for the day "As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them." ~John Fitzgerald Kennedy My greatest hope for this holiday season is that I can live by the spiri...

Hip Hip Hurray, Tomorrow is PIE Day

Well in a little less then 24 hours I am going to have to reset this counter.  I can hardly believe that it says 30 days.  I have to tell you I never thought I would make it this many days I really thought I would have to reset it at some point in time. It has been a huge motivation for me knowing that you guys are watching the counter.  Also, knowing that even if you didn't catch me in the time allowed you would see that I punked.  That I didn't have the self control, not to eat sugar. Every time I would think of eating a goodie, I would think about reseting the clock.  I would wonder who was online, I would wonder if I would get caught, I would wonder who would catch me.  By the time I got through thinking about all of that I would decide the treat wasn't worth it. Another motivation has been my kids, who have said, "Mom you don't have to reset the counter no one would know."  I wanted them to see that  I could be honest and not do something I shouldn't ...
