Confession (No I did not eat Sugar!)

I have a confession to make and I hope that you will still respect me, that you won't label me as, "one of those people."  That you will understand, support and maybe just maybe join me.  

So here it is I have been listening to the Christmas music station.  That is right, I'm letting the world know, "Hello, my name is Krissi and I am a Christmas music junkie." 

It started the day after Halloween and has just began to pick up steam.  

My fave play list on my IPOD, Christmas Music, My fave programed station in the car, Christmas Music.  

What I am listening to right now, actually nothing, because Brent is in the room and he will get irritated with me. But if he wasn't believe me I would be fa la la la ing.

I have no idea why but I am really excited for Christmas this year.  We have no money, Brent's job kinda sucks right now. Christmas presents are going to be on the scant and practical side this year.  However, I am really excited for Christmas.

Of course I am looking forward to Thanksgiving.  I have some pies to eat.  But I can hardly wait for the Christmas season to get rolling.

Christmas Programs, you just have to love your kids singing all those great Christmas songs.

Birthday's, what would Christmas in our house be without multiple birthdays.





The Christmas Tree...

I love, love, love (I want to keep going, but three loves seems about enough. However, if you want to put in some more feel free.) our Christmas tree it is full of memories and each year we add to those memories with ornaments for each of the kids and ourselves.  


Something that represents an event, accomplishment, or detail about each person's life.  

S. and I bought our ornament in Hawaii this year.  In fact we bought Brent's in Hawaii too it is a Hula Santa.  When he asked "Why?" I reminded him who paid for the trip and he totally got it. 


 It is fun for us to find the ornaments each year and then relive the whys as we decorate the tree.

Brent's mom did something similar while he was growing up and then gave us the ornaments to us the first year we were married. I'm pretty sure I am going to be way to selfish to give up the ornaments when the kids get married.  Maybe, I will give them one a year.:)

I also love to see how much our kids love the holidays.  It is such a fun holiday for kids they look forward to it year round, they count the days, and they are flushed with excitement all the weeks leading up to Christmas.  It makes me want to be a kid again.


Christmas is just , "The most wonderful time of year." So that being said.  

Ask "the SwimMom" is taking a break for the next few weeks.  Instead, of talking about swimming we are going to be talking about yours and mine favorite holiday traditions, memories and family moments that should probably NOT be posted online. So each Monday I will tag each of you with a story about Holiday moments.

Nothing to be ashamed of Krissi, I'm doing it too. We started singing our Christmas music in chior before Halloween and I've been listening to it since. So I'm with you on the Christmas music. How could you not listen to it?

I am abstaining from Christmas music until the day after THanksgiving. Then, I plan to over-indulge until I get sick of the stuff.

Five Favorite Chistmas Songs/Albums

1 Far Far Away on Judea's Plains.
The alto part totally rocks in this hymn, and how many times can you really say that?

2. Where You There? -- A great choral piece.

3. Sleep, Sleep, Sleep (Mary's Lullaby). I have sung this to all the kids when they were little.

4.O Holy Night. Done well, this song is amazing. Done poorly, I would rather listen to an angry cat yowl.

5. Un Flambeax Janet Issabella (Bring a Torch Janet Isabella). We always sang this in my French class. I used to know it in both French and English. Now I only know it is Fringlish, which is far more amusing.

6. The Holly and The Ivy. I have no idea what the words are to this song, but I can humeroo (a technical Brooks' term that is) the tune. Anyone out there know the words to this song?

I love walking into stores and hearing the Christmas music, it' too fun. I like the traditional songs, Jingle Bells, Holy Night, Away in the manger, Silent Night, and one not so traditional song, the song about the little boy who bought his dying mom some shoes. That one gets me every time.

Okay, I must admit. I'm a Scrooge about Christmas until after Thanksgiving... but this post did make me a little excited for it this year.

As for the Christmas songs... I will have to do that later! I, too, am a Christmas songaholic. The years I was at KWCR I made sure we had Christmas music in the playlist all December long. When I left, I burned all the Christmas songs onto CDs, and I have, like, 15 CDs packed to the limits with music. But, with me being a pre-December Scrooge, I can't get out the Christmas box with the CDs in it until after T-Day.

Okay, okay, okay. This is one of my favorite Christmas CDs. (An actual one, not one I burned from the radio station). "Maybe This Christmas", 2002.

The best Christmas song by far is O Holy Night by Josh Groban. Best. Version. Ever. Not ashamed to admit that I cry every single time; well maybe I am a little ashamed to admit that.

Yeah, I love Christmas, I have been listening to christmas music sense Nov. 1st. as soon as it started on fm100. Mitch about freaked out when he got in the car and heard what I was listening to. HEE HEE I just love all the old christmas songs. I like the new ones to but I just seem to really like the older ones. I only have three more christmas gifts to buy and then I will be done shopping except for names we draw on Mitchs side.

I also have my dads birthday in Dec. and Korbens which is on the 24th YUCK!!!

I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brent shouldn't be upset that you have the photo of him with Santa. He should be upset that the 70s were fashionably cruel to all of us.

No worries Brent, there are pictures of me looking just as 70s fashion-tastic. However, I didn't pose with the Big Man... I had an out of control Santa fear.

Our Christmas Letter

Each year I send out a Christmas letter and the one thing that frustrates me more then anything about the letter is that I can not include all the pictures I would like. That and Brent's rule that the letter has to fit on one side of one paper. I have gotten pretty clever with font size and margins to keep this rule. Biking 45 Miles!

Tomorrow or Today depending on which day you read this post I will be riding my bike 45 miles. Registering for the ride has made this journey to ride my bike 100 miles very real.  Since tomorrow will probably be one of my last rides indoors I have decided to Twit about it. I'm not quite sure how my body is going to react to 45 miles and almost 3 hours on a bike. I'm pretty sure my head is going to be yelling bad words at me, at best. I'm sure there is going to be a lot of, this is crazy, what are you doing to yourself.  By Twitting about it I am going to feel a whole lot more accountable to get the ride done. Especially, if I feel there is any chance that people are logging on to see where I'm at and how it is going. If your feeling inclined I should be on the bike by 1pm Mountain time Friday the 27th. Check it out and make sure I survive!

"Laughing All the Way"

Most of the year Brent lives a pretty quiet existence. He goes about his own business with out the world taking much notice, to what he is up to and what he is doing. However, when the snow starts falling, the neighbors start laughing. Brent has become the neighborhood novelty. The funny guy on the corner. The, "Can you believe that Brent was outside, in the snow, shoveling, while in his sandals." Yes you read that correctly. While I refuse to buy boots, because I don't live where it gets cold and snows, and one needs boots. Brent simply does not wear said boots. Unless, he is going to work and HAS to. To the neighbors this is Brent. A few have tried to explain to him the core differences between living in California and Utah. Like, say, wearing actual shoes while shoveling. Oh, and hey, a coat! Brent's California brain has not excepted these facts. In fact, he claims that his sandals have better traction. "Big Sigh," it is nice to know your husband ...
