Little Bit of Rain

A couple of weeks ago we had a few days of rain, thunder, and lightening. I happen to be a very big fan of summer storms. During a lull in the storm me, my favorite crocs and my camera took a stroll through the garden.

Yes, these are my favorite shoes I would wear them year round every where I went if I could. However, last time I tried to wear them to church my mother's voice was so loud in my head that I knew I wouldn't make it out of the house.

This is a pic of our garden. Again we have let a few random sunflowers sprout up. We love how they make our garden feel and look. Not to mention they attract birds who eat the bugs out of the garden.

Here is a couple pics of the roses. It has gotten to hot for them lately but on this day they were enjoying the rain. We had beautiful flowers all June because of the cooler temps.

Here are my Zinnias this is the first year I have planted Zinnias and they are quickly becoming a favorite of both Brent and I. Currently they are about two feet high and loaded with blooms. We will defiantly be planting more of them in the future.

With the summer finally heating up the garden is going nuts. The beans are taking off and each night we are enjoying produce out of the garden. The tomato plants are all loaded and before you know it we are going to be living off of BLT's.

I have been seriously thinking about hiring you to start a garden for me! I was out this morning in our garden corner of our new yard weeding all morning. All that seems to grow there right now is weeds and a ton of rocks! Then, I got on your blog and saw your garden!!! WOW! I want one like that!! I LOVE it! You are so talented! Where do I begin? I guess my first step is to get rid of the rocks and weeds? Then what?!?!? HELP!!! :0) Maybe I'll just have a computer garden and look at yours on your blog every day. That might be easier for me to take care of!! I enjoy the pictures! Thanks!

At my Age

I saw this quote the other day and had to smile. It has been interesting finishing school at my age. I have had this feeling more than once that I am a little old, and finishing school is something I should have done a long time ago. Usually I remind myself that we all have our own paths to take in life. My path had me marry at 19 and become the mother of four beautiful rug rats by 27. Marriage and children defined me more than anything. I became more aware of my talents and abilities. I really didn't know who I was before I became a wife and mother. Waiting until now to finish my degree gave me time to figure out who I am. Well, at least to have a better idea of who I am. I love being in a classroom, I love learning, and I love helping others learn. My inner nerd does little happy dances every time I learn something new. Each person on this planet has their own God given talents. We have a responsibility to find our talents and to make the world a better place. How old you are wh...

Pinewood Derby or Bust!

If there is one thing that Brent and I both agree on.  One thing that we both believe is essential to the proper development, growth, and raising of a son. That no boyhood would be complete with out.  It would be participation in the Pinewood Derby.   Yes, on this one thing Brent and I are in total agreement.  A boyhood is not a true boyhood until a boy has built a pinewood derby car and then competed in a pinewood derby.  It is that important!  I'm sorry if you have never had the opportunity to live in a house filled with the air of pinewood derby. If you have never had the opportunity of watching a father stand to the side as his son uses HIS power tools. The opportunity to take a chunk of wood and see that inside the wood is the makings of a CAR.   You wonder why men are so obsessed with cars, with how there made, and how fast they go.  Well if you have ever brought home a pinewood derby box kit to a home with boys and men all your questions would be answered. Once the car is b...

The Kids Today

S. is now 11 years old and is counting down the days until she turns 12. She is in the fifth grade and says math is her favorite subject. She stays pretty busy with swimming and soccer. This past year in addition to a regular AYSO team she has been competing on an All Star Team. She has really enjoyed it and is really looking forward to a tournament that will take place in Hawaii this July. She still loves swimming and is still competing when she can. A. is 9 years old and is the professor of the house.  He is our silent man whose brain is in constant motion.  He reads and reads and reads and soon will read me out of house and home.  He enjoys video and computer games, and he loves playing sports.  In January he made the city swim team and continues to play soccer, basketball, and anything that I let him.  Al will soon be eight.  As in next week soon.  The best part of school she says is 3:25 when pressed for a better answer than that she say...
