The Voices in my Head

Little Red is haunting me.

First, they sent me an email reminding me it was time to register. Yah, yah, yah I know.

Second, I went to S.'s tri event on Saturday and the Exercise Diva reminded me it was time to register. Easy for her to say she is pregnant and due a month after the Little Red so in all reality is NOT going to do the Little Red. (Maybe I need to get pregnant?)

The little voice in the back of my head says, "Get real, you are totally out of shape you are NOT doing the Little Red this year."

Third, I get an email from Super Will, who provided some major motivation for last years Little Red ride. He was actually sending an email out about the MS ride that he is doing. He is looking for ride sponsors. I am going to provide the link because every little bit counts so if your able please send a couple of dollars his way. (Super Will's MS ride Link)

After reading Super Will's email the little voice reminded me again about the condition I am in.

Just when I finally decide, Nope, not happening this year. . .

Little Red sends a post card saying, "Time to register."

Then suddenly the little voice connected to my inner skinny girl, I do my very best to ignore her, she is always saying things like, "Don't eat that cookie!" "Get out of bed!" "Get Moving!" "Do a 100 mile bike ride!" I have found that her advice is not often very fun said, "Enough already, just register, and do the best you can."

So I'm doing the Little Red and the last couple of days have found my rear aloft my bike. My rear and I are both questioning our judgement about doing the ride.

However, the thing about my inner skinny girl is once I start listening to her she just doesn't shut up. Ever been in an aerobic class with an instructor you could gladly gag. YEAH, that is her yakking away about exercise, nutrition, and bike rides.

Until I find away to shut her up it is going to be back to training for me. Two days down and about a 100 more to go.

Prayers and Hugs,

PS HUHH UMMM Heather..DO NOT MAKE ME DO THIS BY MYSELF!!!!!

I just got the post card in the mail as well. I did not throw it away, so I don't know what to make of that.

You are so awesome!! I will do little red with you (in spirit, because I'll be in Texas that week) as soon as I kick the pneumonia I have. Good news, while I am not yet ready to ride, I am coughing and wheezing less. However, my inner skinny girl has been replaced with the prednizone munchies.... it is an odd diachotomy to endure. I mean, how is the inner skinny to compete with pharmachology induced snacking?

So, tell me all your training secrets so that I can start riding as soon as the lungs are healthy.

PS - I'm surprised she's not still planning on doing Little Red, big and pregnant and everything. She is the Exercise Diva, after all.

Didn't Exercise Diva used to go by a different name? You forgot to mention she's pregnant with her 10th kid(or so). If getting pregnant is your plan for getting out of Little Red... uh... maybe you should talk to your husband about that...

I think it's funny you changed her name. :) She's my hero. She's crazy, but I wish I had her endurance. You know, for exercise.

At my Age

I saw this quote the other day and had to smile. It has been interesting finishing school at my age. I have had this feeling more than once that I am a little old, and finishing school is something I should have done a long time ago. Usually I remind myself that we all have our own paths to take in life. My path had me marry at 19 and become the mother of four beautiful rug rats by 27. Marriage and children defined me more than anything. I became more aware of my talents and abilities. I really didn't know who I was before I became a wife and mother. Waiting until now to finish my degree gave me time to figure out who I am. Well, at least to have a better idea of who I am. I love being in a classroom, I love learning, and I love helping others learn. My inner nerd does little happy dances every time I learn something new. Each person on this planet has their own God given talents. We have a responsibility to find our talents and to make the world a better place. How old you are wh...

Pinewood Derby or Bust!

If there is one thing that Brent and I both agree on.  One thing that we both believe is essential to the proper development, growth, and raising of a son. That no boyhood would be complete with out.  It would be participation in the Pinewood Derby.   Yes, on this one thing Brent and I are in total agreement.  A boyhood is not a true boyhood until a boy has built a pinewood derby car and then competed in a pinewood derby.  It is that important!  I'm sorry if you have never had the opportunity to live in a house filled with the air of pinewood derby. If you have never had the opportunity of watching a father stand to the side as his son uses HIS power tools. The opportunity to take a chunk of wood and see that inside the wood is the makings of a CAR.   You wonder why men are so obsessed with cars, with how there made, and how fast they go.  Well if you have ever brought home a pinewood derby box kit to a home with boys and men all your questions would be answered. Once the car is b...

The Kids Today

S. is now 11 years old and is counting down the days until she turns 12. She is in the fifth grade and says math is her favorite subject. She stays pretty busy with swimming and soccer. This past year in addition to a regular AYSO team she has been competing on an All Star Team. She has really enjoyed it and is really looking forward to a tournament that will take place in Hawaii this July. She still loves swimming and is still competing when she can. A. is 9 years old and is the professor of the house.  He is our silent man whose brain is in constant motion.  He reads and reads and reads and soon will read me out of house and home.  He enjoys video and computer games, and he loves playing sports.  In January he made the city swim team and continues to play soccer, basketball, and anything that I let him.  Al will soon be eight.  As in next week soon.  The best part of school she says is 3:25 when pressed for a better answer than that she say...
