Number "WHAT?" You're Kidding ME!

This my blogger friends is my 500th post! Crazy! How have I possibly come up with 500 things to post?

The law of writing and statistics says that for every 100 pieces of of writing, a writer has done, only one, will be any good. (Any one want to fix the grammar in that sentence?)

Meaning, that as of today I have written 5 good posts. For some reason this makes me smile. Also, eliminates the pressure of coming up with an awesome post to celebrate my 500th post.

Today, we are going to talk about one of my favorite subjects, MUSIC!

S. is back in the water but not back on a swim team. So we have been going to the gym at 5 in the morning in order for her to swim and for me to exercise.

I love EXERCISE. Just wish I LOVED eating right. I also wish I LOVED getting up at 4:40 in the morning. AGGGG!

To get my rear in gear I plug in my Ipod and start moving. Every morning I start with the same song.

"Hope" Mister Mydas/Shaggy. I LOVE this song!

Here is the chorus:

She said, “Son there’ll be times when the tides are high
And the boat may be rocky, you can cry
Just never give up
You can never give up,” uh-uh

In this life you could lead if you only believe
And in order to achieve what you need
You can never give up
You can never give up

And this hope
That keep me holding on
On and on
And this hope
That makes me carry on
On and on

Next on my playlist is "Unwritten" by Natasha Bedingfield

I have even been known to hit replay on this one a couple of times...

I love the whole song but my favorite part is this

I break tradition
Sometimes my tries
Are outside the lines, oh yeah yeah
We've been conditioned
To not make mistakes
But I can't live that way oh, oh

Next up is "Afraid" by Nelly Furtado featuring Timbaland

I have been known to sing the chorus of this one out loud in a crowded gym. I try to hold back but...
I rarely succeed...

"We all have the choice to take the lead or follow
I want to feel the light shine on me

You're so afraid of what people might say
But that's okay cause you're only human
You're so afraid of what people might say
But that's okay you'll soon get strong enough"

Now that I am in full on boogy mode I bump up my speed as I launch into "One Girl Revolution" by Super Chick. It is all about the girl power.

And I'll be everything that I wanna be
I am confidence in insecurity
I am a voice yet waiting to be heard
I'll shoot the shot, bang, that you hear round the world

I have a few more faves that I play through. Mixing in some new songs here and there. In the end I walk out of the gym endorphins pumping, my feet tapping, and a song that reminds me I CAN DO IT caught in my head.

So there it is my 500th post. Might not be the greatest post I have written but I'm smiling, my foot is tapping, and I have "The Climb"by Miley Cyrus stuck in my head.

can almost see it.
That dream I'm dreaming, but
There's a voice inside my head saying
You'll never reach it
Every step I'm takin'
Every move I make
Feels lost with no direction,
My faith is shakin'
But I gotta keep tryin'
Gotta keep my head held high

There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose
Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waitin' on the other side
It's the climb

The struggles I'm facing
The chances I'm taking
Sometimes might knock me down, but
No I'm not breaking
I may not know it, but
These are the moments that
I'm gonna remember most
I've just gotta keep goin', and
I gotta be strong
Just keep pushing on, but

There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose
Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waitin' on the other side
It's the climb

There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose
Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waitin' on the other side
It's the climb

Keep on movin'
Keep climbin'
Keep faith baby
It's all about, it's all about
The climb
Keep the faith, keep your faith, woah

Comments

1 in 100 things written, huh? Does that rule also apply to comments, too?

Music! What, no Lady Gaga? Guess you can post about her come March...

So I used to play One Girl Revolution at the radio station over and over and over again. You're supposed to follow the playlist, but I was on at 4am, on the college radio station, so I knew nobody was listening and I played what I wanted. neiner neiner, in your face, college. I also love Unwritten, but Miley Cirus makes my breakfast want to reappear.

Registered! What Have I done?

I'm just home from the gym. My legs are shaky, my shirt is sweaty, and my muscles are loose. Saturday, I biked almost 30 miles on a hill before getting off the hill and finishing up at 35 miles. This morning I went for a nice 70 minute jog. (Legs are not HAPPY!) Last night before going to bed I registered for "Little Red." Paid my non-refundable registration fee. Needless to say I'm what you would called, "FREAKED!" Holy Cow what have I gotten myself into, a 100 mile bike ride.  Do you know that this ride will actually take me out of one state into another and back. Does that sound insane? Who gets up and says hey lets ride our bikes to that state over there and back? I think I have officially lost my mind. How does one know for sure if they have lost there mind? Short of registering for a 100 mile bike ride. Do you know people do these all the time? They do them for fun! Maybe that is the definition of insane. Well what is done is done and I have 16 weeks...

Ask "the SwimMom" Holiday Edition

One thing that you may not know about me is that in my senior year of high school I worked at Baskin Robins. I scooped, dipped, mixed, and created ice cream concoctions for almost an entire year. It was the best and worst job I ever had. My favorite ice cream desserts were malts. Ummmm!!! That is why when I came across this recipe a few years later I couldn't wait to try it. That is why after I tried this recipe it became one my favorite cookie recipes. Below is the recipe for: "Chocolate Malted Cookies" 1 cup butter-flavored shortening 1-1/4 cups packed brown sugar 1/2 cup malted milk powder 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup 1 tablespoon vanilla extract 1 egg 2 cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 1-1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chunks 1 cup (6 ounces) milk chocolate chips In a mixing bowl, combine shortening, brown sugar, malted milk powder, chocolate syrup and vanilla; beat for 2 minutes. Add egg. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt; gradually...

Come and Gone

Christmas has come and gone the final hours of 2010 has began. I'm sure that I have a 2010 reflection post in me somewhere. But! Our 2010 is ending with family, friends and the baptism of my baby. It is so hard to type that sentence even harder to believe that we are baptizing our last little one. So the end of this year is going to come and go without a reflection post. I have chili to cook and family to visit and.... I did want to share with you a quick look at our Christmas We spent Christmas Eve at Grandma's house. At 80 years old she keeps the party rocking and we enjoy the time we get to visit with everyone. (A quick picture before we left. I try to get this picture every year on Christmas Eve.) Melting snowman was our little Christmas Eve joke since all of our Christmas snow had melted. (The stockings after Santa's Visit) This year we enjoyed a brown Christmas. The snowflakes all disappeared and the hopes of a White Christmas were in vain. ...
