Punked by Mother Nature!

Remember my whole January thaw, mother natures joke, not going to fall for it again, post. Well she got a little trickier this year. She gave us quite a few weeks of nice weather, she was even kind enough to melt almost all the snow out of our yard.  On Friday when I posted my signs of spring post I really believed that we were going to get an early spring.  I was very excited and very happy that spring was on the way.

Woke up this morning to several inches of snow.

GRRRRR!!

Okay, Mother Nature, Ha ha ha you got me.

I've been punked by Mother Nature.

Here, the robin is the harbinger of spring. The cute, happy bird shows up, hops around, builds nests, and signals the coming of spring. The 8 months I was in Utah, I learned that even the robin lies! I saw too many birds hopping along snow covered lawns, chirping, singing, and signaling a sprig thaw that never came (I think that year we had snow in June!).

DOn't worry... spring will come, someday.

It is BEAUTIFUL! I love the snow. It really just makes me smile to look out and see it. I hope you are feeling better today!

I'm not speaking to mother nature right now. I think we deserve chocolate and flowers for her tricky behavior. Winter is 99%horrid! Blah!

p.s. I posted blessing #5 today.

My sleep has been ruined the last 2 nights because the window is too light from the reflection from the snow. Arg. I need thick curtains. Velvet, maybe?

Our Christmas Letter

Each year I send out a Christmas letter and the one thing that frustrates me more then anything about the letter is that I can not include all the pictures I would like. That and Brent's rule that the letter has to fit on one side of one paper. I have gotten pretty clever with font size and margins to keep this rule. All you that have read this blog know that I am a sucker for pictures. So this year along with mailing out the letters I am going to post the letter with pictures. YAY ! So fun having your own blog to torture people anyway you want. Our Christmas cards were sent out on Monday so here in all it's digital glory is the letter again, this time with pictures. (Beginning of Letter) Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! We hope that this letter finds you happy, healthy and enjoying the holiday season. If you are like us, it has been a little bit of a difficult year dealing with increasing prices and a budget that isn't quite stretching to meet every thing you want it to...

A Walk Through Our Fall Garden

We have had an absolutely beautiful fall. The weather has actually stayed unseasonably warm. While we have been busy canning and harvesting we have taken very little time to enjoy the flowers that are also enjoying the fall season.  So a couple of days ago I grabbed my camera and enjoyed a scroll through my flowers.  I Love this picture I swear it makes me think I can actually smell the rose.  Sadly this is a no name rose. I think we should name it don't you?   These little guys are from a start my friend gave me.  In fact my flower beds are a bloom right now with plants from her garden. These little gals make me think of quiet summer days.  They also make me want to finish reading "Anne of Green Gables," again.  Don't you think that Anne would love these little ones.  She would probably call them "Queen's of Fall," or something else romantic and fancy. These are mums and you should see the plant it is huge.  Again a start from a friend.  I think it is...

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. It is always nice to take time out and spend time with family and enjoy each others company. I am looking forward more than I can say to our Thanksgiving break. I wrapped up my diversity class good, bad, or indifferent it is done. YAY! Reflections is all but done. This year we had 130 projects submitted three years ago when I started as the Reflection chick we had 9 projects submitted. It almost brought me to tears seeing all the kids projects and their creativity. So very awesome and soooo much work. The economy is looking a tiny bit better and it looks like we may get a little good news in the coming months. That will be a welcome break. All in all I have to say things are looking up. Which brings me to my thought for the day "As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them." ~John Fitzgerald Kennedy My greatest hope for this holiday season is that I can live by the spiri...
