Sometimes Life is Just Harder

In one week I have nine classes left before I start student teaching. The class I am in right now is "Orientation to the Exceptional Child." Over the past several weeks I have been studying the adaptations and accommodations a general education teacher has to make for those students in her class that have special needs. Meanwhile, I have been helping 14 students prepare for the science fair. I started off with 24. I would be lying if I didn't tell you how discouraging it was to watch one student after the other quit. No matter what I was doing they didn't feel like they could accomplish the project. So combined with the class I have been taking I have felt completely overwhelmed. The idea of quitting has circled around my brain more than once. Heck, more than twice. Friday, was the science fair and by the time I got home me and a bag of oreo's had a date. (Which is an issue for another day) After I finished my, I'm exhausted, pity party, I started to t...

Project One

If you are at all like me and my hubby you like your home. You have enjoyed a few DIY projects and most of all you just enjoy making your house a home. Also, if you are like us, your room is on the very bottom of the todo list, where it stays no matter how many new todos are put on the list. Well this year I have decided that is going to change. I'm starting my own Project 12 where each month I'm going to tweak and update our early newlywed not so newly room. This month we started with paint I started here if you want to read about it. And this is how it ended up. Before After The thing about computers is you may really not see the same color I do. Let me give you a few quick facts. This color is called French Rivera and is an Olympic paint. I guess it is a dark teal. The rest of our room is a light gray and together they look awesome. It was just the shot of color that our room needed. What my hubby doesn't know is I have an actual color pallet in mind. ...

Ninja Reacts

The below video will make no sense unless you read this post, " Ninja Obsessed ." Once you read the post come back here and watch the video. Which was secretly recorded while my son read my "Ninja Obsessed," post. Video posted with said son's permission. :) Happy Monday Everyone

Ninja Obsessed

My 12 year old has become a little Ninja Obsessed. Everything he does he says, "It is because of my mad Ninja Skills." I have already shared with you his favorite YouTube video. Yah, I'm starting to wonder if his strange sense of humor is here to stay, or if it is some kind of hormone side affect. Well, son I was reading my google reader today and I came across this picture. For everyone else, I realize it may not be that funny but believe me my 12 year old is going to LOVE this. Happy Sunday Friends! Krissi PS Here is the link for the above picture .

It's January So...

It's January so that must mean it is time to paint. January is an awesome time of year to paint (insert sarcasm here). The most obvious reason is because it is so cold you can't do anything outside. Which means it is so cold outside that you can not open the windows to keep from getting high on paint fumes. It also means that the paint will take twice as long to dry. So why I get the inkling to paint every January is beyond me. I can tell you that new paint makes me happy. I know, it may have a little to do with the paint fumes but I think it has more to do with a fresh new coat of paint. Last January I painted my room a cool (and I mean this like, a cool color, not like, "Dude that was so cool!") gray. I really like the gray but all year I have felt like it needed something. Yes, some pictures on the wall and some furniture that wasn't early newly-wed but not so newly anymore would help. But it needed something MORE! This weekend it started to come toge...

Repurposed Christmas Tree

A few days after the holidays a friend on facebook left a comment about repurposing his Christmas tree. Instead of throwing out the tree after Christmas he places it in his backyard where he enjoys the tree throughout the winter. I have to admit I thought he was a bit quirky. It is a dead tree after all. However, yesterday morning we woke up to a fresh coat of snow. Everything was blanketed white and sparkling in the sunlight. For a few seconds I considered liking the snow. While I was enjoying the pretty snow I noticed my neighbors Christmas tree waiting for the trash man. I quickly grabbed my camera and took a picture and thought maybe my friend wasn't so quirky. The tree looked so awesome sitting there in the snow. You can't even tell that it isn't growing. I can only imagine how pretty it would look with the lights still twinkling. I may have to consider a live tree next year.

Pictures, Finally!

Now that the holidays are over I feel it is safe to post pictures. Pretty much my tradition is to give all the grandparents pictures. Every now and then they read this blog and although they can pretty much expect a picture I wanted the pictures to be a surprise. A whole of lot explanation that you probably didn't need to hear. Oh well! Don't let my copyright fool you these pictures were taken by the talented Brock Able. If you live in the Weber/Davis/Salt Lake area check out his site here . Here they are the four most beautiful, wonderful, children in the whole world. Said without any bias whatsoever. Thanks Brock, you're the best. My Boys My Girls Possibly, my most favorite picture. Oh, I mean this one. No, this one! Okay, this one is my favorite picture. Look they like each other. This one made me laugh so hard. One day he is going to be a daddy and this is the look he is going to give boys who date his daughters. Man, when ...

Workin.. Workin

Four days back to the real world. How is it going? Personally, I'm in need of some tips. It is January, it is COLD, and I don't remember what the sun looks like. This song about says it all! Any winter blue survival tips would be appreciated.

What I'm Working On

Take a peek at this tutorial that I am working on. It feels great to be sewing and just for fun. Check out kraftykrissi.blogspot.com on Friday to see the end result. So much fun!

The Devil's Tool

I have come to the conclusion that expectations are one of the Devil's tools. Expectations destroy relationships, cause hurt, and often leave both parties neglectd. Expectations include the unspoken requirements that we impose on one another. "If you love me you would know what I want." "If you love me you would know what to do." "If you love me you would know how I feel." Expectations are a game that requires mind reading and the abilitiy to make another person happy. Both are traits that no human I have ever met possess. So what do we do with our expectations? Do we lower them? Do we higher them? Do we get rid of them all together. Que Sera, Sera (Whatever will be, will be). That doesn't seem like the answer. When it comes to working with students high expectations lead to high achievement. If you belive a student is capable of more, treat students like they are capable of more, and expect more they will rise to your expectations. W...

I Think I Can...

I'm feeling a little like, "The Little Engine that Could," this morning. A little loop is sounding in my head, "I think I can, I think I can, I think I can." What I'm saying is I'm feeling a little unprepared to jump back into the real world. Vacations are nice! Vacations are needed! However, getting back into the swing of things kind of bites! Three days into the New Year and all my hard work to be more optimistic is swirling down the drain. Guess what I am trying to say is, if you are having a hard time getting back into the swing of things today, you're not alone. Happy Vacation is Over Monday! Krissi PS (Quit Reading write now if you don't want to see the ugly truth) I warned you!

Worried

Sometimes I find things on my computer that make me laugh but at the same time leave me a little concerned. We had an awesome day today. I'm thinking that 2011 may be the best year yet. Happy New Years EVERYONE!
