Red Wall

The red wall!

Remember when I said I was going to paint a wall red? Remember when I said that the samples were currently taped to the wall?

Well they are still there. After a few weeks of staring at the samples and trying to decide what I liked and what I wanted to do I realized that I don't like either one of them.

Red is a tricky color. It is a hard color to paint and even a harder color to cover up. Which is what is making this decision so hard.

I went over to Lowes and grabbed a handful of new red paint samples. We have always used Behr, Home Depots paint, but I can't find a red that I like so I am going to give Lowes Valspar a try.


I have a few that are in the consideration stage. I think the biggest problem is that the wall is in the kitchen which is painted yellow. I''m thinking the yellow is going to have to go and I'm thinking GREEN!

Brent is not making to much of fuss about that. However, he hasn't seen how dark I am thinking of going. In fact I might here some remarks like, "Krissi it isn't Christmas time."


Still in the thinking stages but the room gets lots and lots of light so I think it can handle the darker colors.

Except now I am thinking about it maybe I don't want to go dark maybe I want to go more spring like.  That way in February when I can't stand winter for one second longer I can walk into my kitchen and feel like it is spring.

What do you think Winter cozy colors or Spring light colors?

My kitchen is red, and I love it! It makes me happy to be in there cooking, but for some reason it doesn't work when the dishes need to be done!

I agree with you about how much light is in a room. But really it comes down to what your favorite colors are, and how they make you feel.

We used Valspar on the only room we've painted in our house (baby's room). It was good. But I don't have anything to compare it to. So toss that paint review right out the window. Sorry to type so much and not be any help at all. What a waste of cyber ink.

I can't offer a reliable opinion on this one. We live in the misserable desert. Summers are blisteringly hot. To have cozy winter colors on my walls makes me queasy when it is 110 degrees outside.

I do, however, love dark, bold colors. They just have to be cool shades in dark hues.

A Walk Through Our Fall Garden

We have had an absolutely beautiful fall. The weather has actually stayed unseasonably warm. While we have been busy canning and harvesting we have taken very little time to enjoy the flowers that are also enjoying the fall season.  So a couple of days ago I grabbed my camera and enjoyed a scroll through my flowers.  I Love this picture I swear it makes me think I can actually smell the rose.  Sadly this is a no name rose. I think we should name it don't you?   These little guys are from a start my friend gave me.  In fact my flower beds are a bloom right now with plants from her garden. These little gals make me think of quiet summer days.  They also make me want to finish reading "Anne of Green Gables," again.  Don't you think that Anne would love these little ones.  She would probably call them "Queen's of Fall," or something else romantic and fancy. The Kids Today

S. is now 11 years old and is counting down the days until she turns 12. She is in the fifth grade and says math is her favorite subject. She stays pretty busy with swimming and soccer. This past year in addition to a regular AYSO team she has been competing on an All Star Team. She has really enjoyed it and is really looking forward to a tournament that will take place in Hawaii this July. She still loves swimming and is still competing when she can. A. is 9 years old and is the professor of the house.  He is our silent man whose brain is in constant motion.  He reads and reads and reads and soon will read me out of house and home.  He enjoys video and computer games, and he loves playing sports.  In January he made the city swim team and continues to play soccer, basketball, and anything that I let him.  Al will soon be eight.  As in next week soon.  The best part of school she says is 3:25 when pressed for a better answer than that she say...
