I felt the same way about the 0 in the phone number when we had to make a long distance call. While we lived in Anaconda, when they finally got private phone lines (I was 4) you only had to dial 3-4 numbers to call someone in town. I think it was the first three letters in their last name and then a first letter in their first name. I liked going to visit my grandma after we moved from there cause they still only dialed the 3-4 numbers until I was 12. They were so far behind, I think they still are. Nothing has changed in that town.

ME: So as I listened to him talk about the rotary phone I swear my fingers could feel the click, click, click, click, click of the phone. I also remember our first answering machine. It was huge and I remember our first VCR. It was so cool that you could watch movies at home and pause them. We do live in an amazing world it is a shame we don't realize that more often.

That is funny. I kind of agree with him, we need to be not freak out so much. We live in an awsome world. WOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!!

ME: Just think of how much better the world would be if we all realized how lucky we are!

Great honk... we still have a rotary phone. Right now, it is hanging in my kitchen. It has an extra-long cord so that I can talk and cook dinner simultaneously, if I wish. Don't get me wrong, we have a cordless as well, but I do love the rotary.

Okay, I have never had a bad flight experience. Yes, I was frisked 4 times flying out of Europe (NEVER wear a huge copper hair clip while trying to fly overseas), then our flight was delayed because the passangers on the plane didn't match the itenerary. The flight attendants were running up and down the isles counting passengers, checking seats, looking at carry-ons, and reassuring us that everything was "just fine." Oh, and on the same trip, once in the States, we were asked to wait on the plane because during the flight a man had had a heart attack and he was taken off the plane first. However, as odd as all that seems it adds up to this, 1. I was in Europe --WOOHOO... psh, who cares about frisking when you've been in London. 2. The flight attendants were working freakishly hard to keep all of the passengers safe.
3. Good medicine and training allowed a man to survive a heart attack while over the Atlantic Ocean. What is there not to be greatful for?

Have I mentioned lately that I tend to be overly optimistic? I think Candide was more pessimestic than I am. =)

ME: Only you would think getting frisked four times at an international airport was reason to do the happy dance. Okay, now I think about it maybe I wouldn't mind that so much either ;) Also, as far as you an optimism is concerened I'm pretty sure if they did a show named, "Where is Pollyanna Today," you could play the part of Pollyanna.

Now you've done it!! Once you register you for sure have to complete the trek now. Good for you!!! It's very cool to hear about the progress you have made and your plans of continued progress. Troy always told me that it took me three kids to make me crazy enough to run a marathon. I guess it is good to be crazy and out of our minds. Right?

ME: I haven't really decided what kind of crazy these goals are. Are they good crazy or they just plain crazy crazy. I mean millions of people live there whole lives without going for a 26 mile run or 100 mile bike ride. Also, I have to ask if three kids made you crazy enough to run 26 miles what is four going to make you crazy enough to do? :) There are 3 day breast cancer walks. Are you interested?

To go along with your talking back, your part about the VCR. Well we got rid of Direct tv. We got this box from Netflix now that we can pick the movie we want to watch on the computer walk over to the tv and turn it on and there it is. I like it cause we have total control of what the kids are watching. If we get tired of Hannah MT we can remove her from the box, it is so great. We can pause, rewind, fast forward and watch it again until we remove it. I love it.

At my Age

I saw this quote the other day and had to smile. It has been interesting finishing school at my age. I have had this feeling more than once that I am a little old, and finishing school is something I should have done a long time ago. Usually I remind myself that we all have our own paths to take in life. My path had me marry at 19 and become the mother of four beautiful rug rats by 27. Marriage and children defined me more than anything. I became more aware of my talents and abilities. I really didn't know who I was before I became a wife and mother. Waiting until now to finish my degree gave me time to figure out who I am. Well, at least to have a better idea of who I am. I love being in a classroom, I love learning, and I love helping others learn. My inner nerd does little happy dances every time I learn something new. Each person on this planet has their own God given talents. We have a responsibility to find our talents and to make the world a better place. How old you are wh...

Hip Hip Hurray, Tomorrow is PIE Day

Well in a little less then 24 hours I am going to have to reset this counter.  I can hardly believe that it says 30 days.  I have to tell you I never thought I would make it this many days I really thought I would have to reset it at some point in time. It has been a huge motivation for me knowing that you guys are watching the counter.  Also, knowing that even if you didn't catch me in the time allowed you would see that I punked.  That I didn't have the self control, not to eat sugar. Every time I would think of eating a goodie, I would think about reseting the clock.  I would wonder who was online, I would wonder if I would get caught, I would wonder who would catch me.  By the time I got through thinking about all of that I would decide the treat wasn't worth it. Another motivation has been my kids, who have said, "Mom you don't have to reset the counter no one would know."  I wanted them to see that  I could be honest and not do something I shouldn't ...

Stepping Up to the Plate

This is going to be one of those braggy, braggy post just thought I would warn you. Life has gotten to the point that it is completely out of control. I’m not really sure what we were thinking when we had four children in the span of six years. I also don’t know why I thought it was difficult when they were small because life now is, as I said, completely out of control. Everyone is at the age that they are involved or doing something. Our nights have become logistic nightmares. Pick up here, drop off here, go here, and stop here. It is craziness. Added to this insanity is the fact that we are currently a one-vehicle family. A couple of months ago as I was signing Al. up for basketball I was desperately trying to talk H. out of playing basketball. He has only wanted to play since he was four and every year he would remind me how many more years until he could play. Why, oh Why did I not say he had to be 16? Eventually, I gave in and signed him up knowing it was going to be tough to fit...
